Windshield & Glass Coating
Glass Coating for Car Windshields and Windows: Hydrophobic Nano Coating for Drivers, Detailing Studios and Distributors
Vetro Power supplies the automotive trade with one glass chemistry in two grades: Vetro Power CERAMIQ GLASS+, the professional coating, and Vetro Power CERAMIQ GLASS ECO, the entry grade. Both are silicon dioxide (SiO2) sol-gel coatings that bond to the glass and make it hydrophobic, so rain beads and runs off the windshield, wipers do less work, and road film, bird droppings and bug splatter sit on the surface instead of bonding to it. Nothing changes in how the glass looks or how light passes through it. PFOA-free and PFAS-free. Drivers, detailing studios, dealerships and distributors can buy it in three ways.
Three ways to work with Vetro Power
1. Drive it
A retail bottle for your own car. Wipe on with the cloth, let it haze, buff. One 100 ml bottle treats the windshield of about five cars, or all the glass on two.
2. Offer it
A glass protection service for detailing studios, car washes and dealership delivery packs. Supplied in 1 L, 5 L and 25 L with application guidance, data sheets and coverage per car worked out for your pricing.
3. Sell it
Distributors and brands take it in 25 L, 200 L and 1,000 L, ready-to-use or as a concentrate for volume, with brochure, technical data sheet and safety data sheet under your own name through the Vetro Power OEM programme.
The professional grade carries independent test certificates (UV weathering, contact angle, glass strength, optics), listed in plain words further down this page. Contact us with your market and volume and we will come back with the right grade and pack.
Two grades, one chemistry: pick by how long it needs to last
Both grades are the same SiO2 sol-gel family. They differ in concentration of active material, which is what sets how long the water repellency holds on a windshield that is wiped, washed and left in the sun. Both are supplied ready-to-use; the professional grade is also available as a concentrate for volume users.

What changes on the glass, and what does not
What it does not do: it does not stop stone chips or cracks, it is not a scratch filler, and it does not replace wiper blades. It is a surface treatment that changes how water and dirt behave on the glass.

Tested performance, in plain words
These are the certificates issued for the professional grade, Vetro Power CERAMIQ GLASS+, and what each one means on a car. The entry grade, CERAMIQ GLASS ECO, is not certified and is sold on its stated six-month protection.
| UV weathering | 3,500 hours of artificial UV to ISO 11507 (Polymer Service GmbH, Merseburg). Water contact angle 116.7° on the fresh coating and still 95.3° after the test; untreated glass measures 10° to 15°. That is roughly the sunlight a windshield sees over years of parking outdoors, and the glass was still strongly water-repellent at the end. |
| Water contact angle | 116.7° means a drop of water stands up on the glass as a bead instead of spreading. Above about 90° a surface counts as hydrophobic; the higher the angle, the faster rain runs off at speed. |
| Glass strength | Coated single-pane safety glass meets the flexural strength requirements of DIN 1249-12, DIN 18516-4 and DIN EN 12150-1 (Friedmann & Kirchner). The coating does not weaken the glass. |
| Optics | FT-IR reflection and UV-Vis transmission measured by IGR: no difference between coated and uncoated glass in the visible range. Nothing on the windshield to distort what the driver, a camera or a rain sensor sees. |
| Wash and chemical resistance | Withstands high-pressure and steam cleaners up to 60 bar, and chemicals from pH 2.5 to 12, so car-wash shampoos, bug removers and glass cleaners in that range do not strip it. |
| PFAS | PFOA-free and PFAS-free silicon dioxide chemistry, no fluorinated repellents. |
Questions drivers, detailers and distributors ask
Will a glass coating damage or etch my windshield?
No. The coating bonds to the glass as a silicon dioxide layer a few nanometres thick. Coated safety glass tested to DIN EN 12150-1 kept its flexural strength, and FT-IR and UV-Vis measurements found no change in reflection or transmission. Smearing complaints on forums come from over-application or skipping the buff; wipe on thin, let it haze, buff with a clean cloth.
Does it work with wipers, or will they wear it off?
It works with wipers; most of the benefit is that the wipers have less water to clear. The published abrasion test is 60 bar pressure washing rather than wiper cycles, so the stated life (up to 1 to 2 years for CERAMIQ GLASS+, up to 6 months for CERAMIQ GLASS ECO) assumes the glass is kept clean and the blades are in good condition. Re-apply when beading fades.
Can I apply it over an old Rain-X or other treatment?
Clean the glass first with Vetro Power Pre Cleaner so it is free of old repellent, grease and cleaner residue. The coating bonds to bare glass; a leftover silicone film underneath it will shorten its life.
Is it safe for rain sensors, ADAS cameras and tinted side glass?
The coating does not change visible light transmission or reflection (IGR test), so the camera and the sensor see through it as before. It is applied to the outside of the glass; tint film sits on the inside and is not touched.
How long does it last on a car?
Vetro Power CERAMIQ GLASS+ is stated at up to 1 to 2 years and Vetro Power CERAMIQ GLASS ECO at up to 6 months, when applied and maintained correctly. In the laboratory the professional grade was still strongly water-repellent after 3,500 hours of UV weathering. Wear depends on wiper use, washing and sun; re-apply when water stops beading.
How much coating does one car take, and how much does it cost per car?
About 15 to 20 ml for a windshield and about 50 ml for all the glass with the professional grade (11 to 14 ml per square metre), about half that with the entry grade. Cost per car follows from the pack price; dealer prices are quoted on enquiry, not on this page.
Can a detailing studio or distributor buy in 5 L, 25 L or more?
Yes. 1 L, 5 L and 25 L for studios, 25 L, 200 L and 1,000 L for distributors and fleets, and the professional grade as a concentrate for volume users. Data sheets can be issued under your own brand.
Does it stop stone chips or cracks?
No. It is a nano-scale surface treatment that changes how water and dirt behave on the glass. It does not add thickness or impact resistance.
Is it PFAS-free?
Yes. Both grades are silicon dioxide sol-gel coatings, PFOA-free and PFAS-free, with no fluorinated repellents.
What is the difference between CERAMIQ GLASS ECO and CERAMIQ GLASS+?
Same chemistry, different concentration of active material. ECO is the entry grade for routine glass care, stated at up to 6 months and not certified. GLASS+ is the professional grade, stated at up to 1 to 2 years, oleophobic as well as hydrophobic, with independent test certificates, and available as a concentrate.
