Anti-Fingerprint Coating for Stainless Steel: How It Works and Where It Is Used
Stainless steel shows fingerprints because the skin leaves a thin film of oil on its smooth surface, and that film catches the light against the bright metal. An anti-fingerprint coating is a thin, transparent layer that makes the surface water-repellent and easier to wipe clean, so marks lift off instead of building up. Vetro Power Metal Protect is an SiO2 and solvent-based coating made for this purpose on metal and stainless steel in industrial use.
Quick answer. Vetro Power Metal Protect is a ready-to-use, SiO2 and solvent-based hydrophobic and anti-fingerprint nanocoating for metal and stainless steel surfaces. It covers roughly 800 to 1,000 ft² per litre, keeps the original look and feel of the surface, and is UV-stable. It is developed for industrial application, for example on machinery and equipment.
How an anti-fingerprint coating works on steel
Vetro Power Metal Protect forms a transparent, thin layer on the surface. The layer is hydrophobic, so water beads up and runs off rather than spreading. Because the coating sits as a smooth, stable film, fingerprints and everyday marks sit on top and wipe away easily. It does not change the texture or the appearance of the metal.

Where it is used
Vetro Power Metal Protect is developed for industrial application on metal and stainless steel surfaces, for example machinery and equipment. Because it is UV-stable, it also suits outdoor metal surfaces exposed to sunlight. The coating keeps the original look and feel, so the finish of the steel stays as it was.

Case study
Racconti, India's first Made in India luxury interiors brand, had watermarks and fingerprints showing on its copper and stainless steel furniture. The Vetro Power Mumbai team applied Vetro Power Anti-Fingerprint Nanocoating for Metal, with surface preparation, precise application and curing, for a uniform finish on the copper and stainless steel pieces. Racconti reported furniture that repelled watermarks, water and oil marks and fingerprints, needed less maintenance, and kept its luxury finish.

How it is applied
1
Clean the surface. The surface must be free of dust, grease and residues of cleaning agents for a long-lasting result.
2
Test first. Carry out a stability and functionality test on an inconspicuous area before full application.
3
Spray evenly. The coating is ready to use and sprayed with an HVLP nozzle, covering roughly 800 to 1,000 ft² per litre. Avoid ponding on the substrate.
4
Care for the surface. Wipe fingerprints with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Ink or water stains come off with a damp cloth, and stronger marks with a mild cleaner at pH 5 to 7.
Good to know. Vetro Power Metal Protect is solvent-based with a flash point below 15 °C, so it is flammable and must be handled, stored and disposed of in line with its safety data sheet and local rules. It is made for industrial metal and stainless steel surfaces; food-contact and medical use are not claimed. It is not resistant to hydrofluoric acid or strong alkalis such as bleach, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. Because surfaces and conditions vary, verify suitability on the actual substrate before full use.
Vetro Power Metal Protect
Hydrophobic and anti-fingerprint nanocoating for metal and stainless steel.
Does an anti-fingerprint coating stop fingerprints completely?
It reduces fingerprints and makes them easy to wipe off with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Vetro Power Metal Protect keeps the surface smooth and stable so marks lift easily, but it does not make a surface untouchable.
Can it be used on stainless steel outdoors?
Yes. Vetro Power Metal Protect is UV-stable, which the brochure lists as a feature, so it suits outdoor metal surfaces exposed to sunlight.
Does it change the look of the steel?
No. It forms a transparent, thin coating and keeps the original look and feel of the surface.
How is it applied and how much is needed?
It is ready to use and sprayed with an HVLP nozzle. Industrial coverage is roughly 800 to 1,000 ft² per litre. The surface must be clean and dry, and a patch test on an inconspicuous area is recommended first.
