How it is supplied

Compared with a tempered glass protector

A tempered glass or film protector adds a physical layer that absorbs impact and scratches, but it collects fingerprints like any other glass, can trap bubbles and dust, and adds thickness to the device. Vetro Power Mobile Protect is a different kind of product: an invisible surface treatment measured in nanometres that makes the existing glass hydrophobic and easy to clean, with no change in touch response, thickness or appearance. It does not add impact protection. The two are often used together: the coating on the display itself, or applied to the top surface of a glass protector so the protector stays clean.

Measured performance

The protective layer is not visible, so it is evaluated by performance. On a smartphone display measured with a mobile surface analyser, the water contact angle increased from 89.0 degrees untreated to 107.7 degrees protected, the diiodomethane contact angle from 78.0 degrees to 90.8 degrees, and the free surface energy fell from 24.2 mN/m to 13.9 mN/m. Lower surface energy is why liquids bead up and dirt has less to hold on to.

Antimicrobial performance: the standard product has a passive antimicrobial effect, since the repellent surface leaves no breeding ground for bacteria. An active antimicrobial variant integrates the agent into the coating so it does not migrate or wear off. Tested to DIN EN ISO 20743:2013 and EN 14476:2013+A2:2019.
